Both. HSK 1 starts from zero with structured word lists and audio, and the Reader can handle very simple text. It's built so that the same app still works at HSK 7–9, which is where most Mandarin apps run out.
How is this different from a flashcard app?
Flashcard apps ask you to memorise words in isolation and hope they transfer to reading. MidMando starts from reading: you meet a word in a real sentence, learn it in that context, and it enters spaced review from there. The review system exists to support the reading, not the other way round.
Does it teach 成语 and slang?
